World of Warcraft is no longer the most played MMORPG for the first time in many years

Blizzard's work loses its throne and Final Fantasy XIV is now the MMORPG video game with the most active players.

The MMORPG genre is one of the most popular in the world, especially on the PC. If we think of works of the genre, the first that comes to mind is probably World of Warcraft, and that is that Blizzard's video game has remained the most popular MMORPG with the largest number of players for many years. However, now, in the middle of 2021 and after receiving new expansions, World of Warcraft classic gold loses its throne: Final Fantasy XIV is, today, the MMORPG with the most number of active players.

As collected from the Final Weapon portal, Final Fantasy XIV has recently become the video game of the MMORPG genre with the most active players. These statistics, collected by the MMO-Population portal, take into account both those players who are enjoying the free trial and those who pay the subscription, and separate World of Warcraft players from those of WoW Classic.

Although the statistics include some estimates and are not totally accurate, according to the data handled by this portal, Final fantasy XIV currently has almost 2.5 million active players. A figure that, on the other hand, does not stop rising ahead of the launch of the great Endwalker expansion. For its part, World of Warcraft has about 2.19 million active players while WoW Classic remains at 1.75 million.

Although adding WoW Classic with the current version of World of Warcraft, Blizzard's game is still leading, it is remarkable that World of Warcraft on its own has lost the throne of the most popular MMORPG in favor of Final Fantasy XIV.
